When an opportunity comes along to address a problem as widespread as anxiety and put forth a product to champion mental health and wellness, purpose and honor become contagious. Integrity pulls us to push for a better world, to help people in need, to make a difference.

It was my greatest honor leading this project for Champion, developing a patented Weighted Hoodie to bring 8lbs of machine washable comfort, like a hug to champions everywhere.

Designed to be Reversible for extended wearability options, helpful when a teenager might bring one to class every day.

Hear me talk a little bit about the intended sustainable impact of this product, filmed as part of our PR Interviews.

Selling out quickly on Champion.com. This project was two years in the making, and easily one of the most fulfilling of my career.

Here you can see my Prototype Journey, What a Great Team and what a journey!

>>> INSIGHTS

From Beginning to End, our greatest partner in this journey was our Insights team who worked overtime to help us understand the who, what, and why of mental health. Our team Nici Nelson, and Denise Allen also helped orchestrate a partnership with Dr. Kerri Mcbee at Missouri State so we could wear test prototypes on real college students and learn from them what worked.

The first prototype was made of excess fabric scraps, cooling silicon beads, a scented hood liner and sewn on my kitchen table in Brooklyn. My partner, Colin Holloway, was the first model, shown here at the Javits Center in NYC.

Our incredible agency partners, RAD, helped spread the word with the most excellent humans working every day to build calm and comfort. One of my favorites is Liz Beecroft, champion of mental health and certified therapist.

Our incredible agency partners, RAD, helped spread the word with the most excellent humans working everday to champion stories of wellness. Here is Luca Fersko explaining how he integrated the weighted hoodie into his lifestyle.

For this initiative, enterprise R&D introduced us to a third party provider, Ciclo, who had an incredible solution of a more responsibly degrading polyester fiber, Ciclo. As part of a greater corporate sustainability goal to transition virgin polyester platforms to recycled or degradable fibers, we elected to make the shift in Champion Reverse Weave sets.

To kick off the transition I was challenged to realize a fully degradable Reverse Weave Set, including all trims and packaging, for global sales, meaning globally compliant terms and language. The work was challenging, bumpy, full of regulatory hurdles, and required a strong network of very committed and helpful cross-functional partners. It was a great team, and a great journey, I am immensely proud to be a part of it.

Creative Direction for champion ecofuture

Partnered with the Head of Brand Marketing, I pitched the creative brief for all global Champion Ecofuture branding.

I developed the trademarked logo and all product packaging and we worked closesly with an outside agency overseeing the UX design to tell the story and explain the overall goals and mission of Ecofuture.
